How I painted my Craftworld Aeldari Alaitoc Guardian.
- Basecoat the blue armour parts with Kantor Blue .
- Wash of Nuln Oil and Lahmian Medium , mixed 1:1.
- Paint all of the raised areas again in Kantor Blue .
- Chunky edge highlight of Alaitoc Blue .
- Fine edge highlight of Hoeth Blue .
- Selectivly highlight the most prominant edges with Fenrisian Grey .
- Add dots of Blue Horror to the center of the previous highlighted areas and corners.
- Basecoat helmet and relevant areas with Averland Sunset .
- Go over yellow areas with Iyanden Yellow and Contrast Medium mixed 1:2.
- Bring the raised and exposed parts of the yellow back to the base colour by painting/glazing Averland Sunset over them again. This may take a couple of passes.
- Chunky edge highlight of Averland Sunset and Screaming Skull mixed 2:1.
- Fine edge highlight of Averland Sunset and Screaming Skull mixed 1:1.
- Selective highlight of pure Screaming Skull . I would advise sticking to corners and the most prominent areas only.
- Dot highlight of Screaming Skull mixed with a little pure white, like Dead White .
- If at any point you are dissatisfied with the vibrancy of the colours, I would recommend adding a little yellow ink (like Vallejo Game Ink Yellow ) into your paint. You can then glaze over the affected area and start building up colours again.
