Imperial Fists Yellow Armor

This is my brief rundown of how to achieve a classic "Imperial Fist" yellow, without the use of an airbrush. I also don't use Imperial Fist in this guide, as I prefer working from opaque acrylics as a base, so I can reapply the base colour as needed to neaten up as I go. I would recommend picking up an Artist Opus or Green Stuff World set of drybrushes for applying the initial basecoats, but a set of cheap makeup brushes will also achieve the same effect - for guides on their use I'd check out this video by Byron Orde from Artist Opus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BSm7qT0_s8&t=440s

1. Undercoat white - I tend to use Corax White spray can, but an airbrush will work here too.
2. Basecoat Volcanic Yellow I tend to use an Artist Opus drybrush to overbrush the colour over a white basecoat - again, use an airbrush if you prefer. This may take a few passes to get an even coat
3. Soft Shade using a watered down 1:1 mix of Skrag Brown and Volcanic Yellow , focusing on the lower parts of the armor and recesses - use this to set the guides of where the other shades and highlights will go.
4. Deep shade using watered down Skrag Brown focused into the recesses. Follow this with watered down Doombull Brown in the deepest parts of the armor - panel lines, joints, etc
5. Reapply Volcanic Yellow to neaten up any overspill and as the first chunky edge highlight
6. Edge highlight with Deep Yellow keeping some of the previous edge highlight showing.
7. Final edge highlight with Ice Yellow - Dorn Yellow also works as an alternative. This should focus on the upper edges of the armour.
