Based off the paint scheme from Duncan Rhoads, but using paints from the Army Painter line.

Base and Shade

  1. Basecoat the armor with Imperial Navy
  2. Basecoat the gun, joints, hand with Matt Black
  3. Basecoat the axe handle, vents, and metal gun parts with Plate Mail Metal
  4. Basecoat the axe handle and smaller cables including bottom head cable with Basalisk Red
  5. Wash the entire model with Dark Tone
  6. Basecoat the book bag and talisman strap with Oak Brown
  7. Basecoat the wax seals with Mulled Berry
  8. Mix Grey Castle with a tiny amount of Pure Red and basecoat the parchment
  9. Basecoat the Crux Terminatus with Deep Grey
  10. Wash the leather bag and parchment and crux with Soft Tone
  11. Basecoat larger cables and top head cable with Daemonic Yellow
  12. Wash yellow cables with Soft Tone
  13. Basecoat the gold, skulls mostly, also the axe blade lines with Greedy Gold
  14. Basecoat the face with Topaz Skin
  15. Wash the skin and gold with Strong Skin Shade

Highlight

  1. Mix Dorado Skin and Topaz Skin 1:1, and glaze highlight the skin
  2. Fine highlight the skin with Dorado Skin
  3. Paint flats of the armor panels, avoiding the recesses, with Imperial Navy
  4. Mix Plate Mail Metal and Greedy Gold 1:1, and highlight all of the gold
  5. Mix Grey Castle with a tiny amount of Pure Red and glaze the flats of the the parchment that would catch the light
  6. Edge highlight armor with Ultramarine Blue
  7. Fine edge highlight of armor with Electric Blue
  8. Edge highlight gun and joints with Deep Grey
  9. Fine edge highlight gun and highlight crux terminatus with Ash Grey
  10. Edge highlight red cables and axe handle with Pure Red
  11. Basecoat mustache with Dark Stone
  12. Mix Dark Stone and Ancient Stone 1:1, and edge highlight bag and leather strap
  13. Mix Plate Mail Metal and Greedy Gold 2:1, and edge highlight gold
  14. Edge highlight gun parts and axe handle with Plate Mail Metal
  15. Edge highlight seals with Elder Flower
  16. Edge highlight cables with Ice Yellow
  17. Fine highlight crux and mustache with Grey Castle
  18. Edge highlight parchment with Ancient Stone
  19. Scribble parchment text with Oak Brown

Axe

  1. Basecoat the axe blade with Abyssal Blue
  2. All over wash on the blade with Dark Tone
  3. Panel highlight axe, avoiding the gold areas, with Abyssal Blue

  1. Highlight axe with Deep Azure
  2. Second step of the axe highlight with a 1:1 mix of Deep Azure and Runic Cobalt
  3. A final highlight with Runic Cobalt
  4. Highlight the corners of the axe with Matt White

Orbs, Hand, and Runes

  1. Basecoat orbs, hand, and eyes. Glaze a thick pass on runes with Tidal Blue
  2. Using Shieldwall Blue , highlight orbs, hand, and eyes. Thin it down and paint inside the runes
  3. Using Aquamarine , fine highlight orbs, hand, and eyes. Thin it down for fine pass on runes. You'll only want to cover the areas where the lines intersect and a little ways out from that.
  4. Using Matt White , fine highlight orbs and hand. Thin it down for fine pass on runes, but only where the lines connect.
