My personal approach to painting Old World Night Goblins to create a vivid old-school look.

1. Robes

Heavy dry brush of Eshin Grey and Dawnstone. Light dry brush of Celestra Grey over the Nuln Oil Shade for contrast. This step should also be repeated for Shaman and Warboss robes as well on any banners for Standard Bearers.

  1. Chaos Black

(Primer for whole model in all cases)

  1. Eshin Grey
  2. Dawnstone
  3. Nuln Oil
  4. Celestra Grey

2. Skin

  1. Waaagh! Flesh
  2. Agrax Earthshade
  3. Warboss Green
  4. Skarsnik Green
  5. Kislev Flesh

3. Armour & Weapons

A simple approach that creates a high-contrast metallic effect, base coating all parts in Leadbelcher with a generous wash of Nuln Oil. Dry brushing with Necron Compiund creates striking edge highlights and a shortened look on any raise areas There is also the opportunity to use Hashut Copper to dry brush in some rusted detail selectively.

  1. Leadbelcher
  2. Nuln Oil
  3. Necron Compound
  4. Brass Scorpion
  5. Blood For The Blood God

(Optional step: add blood splatter effects across the blades of weapons and armour spending on desired appearance).

4. Wood & Leather

  1. Mournfang Brown
  2. Agrax Earthshade
  3. Ionrach Skin

5. Instruments & Charms

  1. Brass Scorpion
  2. Nuln Oil
  3. Necron Compound

6. Ropes & Bindings

  1. Rakarth Flesh
  2. Agrax Earthshade
  3. Screaming Skull

7. Bones & Teeth

  1. Ushabti Bone
  2. Seraphim Sepia
  3. Screaming Skull

8. Mouth & Tongue

  1. Ionrach Skin
  2. Wazdakka Red
  3. Pink Horror

9. Eyes

  1. Evil Sunz Scarlet
  2. Flash Gitz Yellow

10. Moons

  1. Averland Sunset
  2. Casandora Yellow
  3. Yriel Yellow
  4. Flash Gitz Yellow

Mushrooms

To achieve a somewhat authentic Fly Agaric appearance, the whole mushroom should be coated in Palid Wych Flesh, with Grax Earthshade applied to the stalk and recesses. The top portion of the mushroom should then be Layered with Wazdakka Red and edge highlighted with Evil Sunz Scarlett. Palid Wych Flesh can also be used to add the characteristic white spots.

  1. Flayed One Flesh
  2. Agrax Earthshade
  3. Screaming Skull
  4. Wazdakka Red
  5. Evil Sunz Scarlet
