This gold is designed to look aged and worn, but in a different way to other methods I've shared.
Basecoats
- I start from a Corax White base, and give the areas I want gold a couple of thin layers of Retributor Armour . This coats very well, so the second layer can be really quite thin.
- Overbrush the model with thinned Liberator Gold . This is just like a quick glaze of the less vibrant gold, don't worry about recesses. Pull more of the Liberator Gold towards the edges of panels etc.
Shades
- Mix Aethermatic Blue with Contrast Medium 2:1. Use it as a wash over all of the gold, but pull it towards the recesses as you go.
- When dry, add a little Waywatcher Green or Warp Lightning into the Aethermatic Blue , and just add towards the recesses.
- Use some Drakenhof Nightshade for the deepest recesses such as eye sockets. I also line-in with it around sharp recesses.
Highlights
- Mix Stormhost Silver and Liberator Gold 1:1 and add a bit of water so it flows nicely. I glaze this and pull towards edges with it. On sharp edges, I try and do an edge highlight with the side of the brush.
- Repeat the previous step until you're happy.
- Add a dot of Stormhost Silver on the shiniest edges and points.
