Just a simple way to make blue-silver blades; especially good with blades with runes on like the Melusai.

Basecoats

  1. Paint the blade(s) with Leadbelcher and Stormhost Silver mix. The Leadbelcher is important as it applies better than Stormhost Silver .
  2. Give the blade a couple of coats of pure Stormhost Silver . I thin this down quite a bit and run it over the blade a couple of times. You want a shiny, silver blade rather than a steel/metal blade.
  3. Paint the gem/rune if applicable with Corax White

Shading

  1. Apply Aethermatic Blue and Contrast Medium mix (2:1) to the whole blade, but pull it towards the gem. Also, you want to try to pull it into the recesses and into one corner of the sides of the blade (see the picture)
  2. Apply pure Aethermatic Blue to just the run and around it, to build a slightly OSL affect.

Highlights

  1. You don't necessarily need these steps, but highlight the gem with Baharroth Blue (paint the 4 edges of the gem), then a dot of White Scar in the centre of the gem.
  2. Use Stormhost Silver to edge highlight the sharp parts of the blade.
