Quite possibly my favourite of all Rumbleslam miniatures. I love this big dorky boy! I had to go for the traditional nerd colour scheme that all 80's/90's kids are familiar with, especially since the sculpt fitting it perfectly.
Ork Skin
- Basecoat with a 1:1 mix of Skarsnik Green and Averland Sunset .
- Add a little Warp Lightning to the base mix and add some general shading to the recesses.
- Shade deep recesses with small amounts of thin Caliban Green .
- With an equal parts mix of Skarsnik Green , Averland Sunset and Zandri Dust , begin highlighting the skin.
- Mix in some Screaming Skull to the above mix and selectively highlight points.
- Finally add very small highlights of pure Screaming Skull to prominent points.
- Glaze Kislev Flesh over knuckles, ears, elbows and lips. The re-add specular highlights of Screaming Skull , if needed.
White Cloth
- Basecoat with 1:1 Celestra Grey and White .
- Mix the base colour 1:1 with Dark Reaper and add some general shading to the cloth.
- Further define recesses with a small amount of pure Dark Reaper .
- With 1:3 Celestra Grey and White , highlight the cloth.
- More selectively highlight with pure White .
Grey Cloth
- Basecoat with Skavenblight Dinge .
- Mix the Skavenblight Dinge 1:1 with Abaddon Black . Use this colour to add shading to the folds.
- Pick out edges of the stripes with 1:1 Skavenblight Dinge and Administratum Grey . I like to add slightly chunkier highlights on knees and folds too.
- Highlight more selectively with Administratum Grey .
- Finish with a few very small/specular highlights using a mix of Administratum Grey and White .
Red Cloth
- Basecoat with 1:1 Khorne Red & Doombull Brown .
- Glaze highlight with Mephiston Red .
- Edge highlight with Troll Slayer Orange .
- Highlight more selectively with Fire Dragon Bright .
- Mix some Ice Yellow into your Fire Dragon Bright and finsih with a few very small highlights.
Red Leather Elbows
- Basecoat with 1:1 Khorne Red & Doombull Brown .
- Mix Khorne Red & Abaddon Black 1:1, thin it down and shade the recesses.
- Highlight with a 1:1 mix of your base colour and Jokaero Orange .
- With pure Jokaero Orange add fine highlights.
- Selectively highlight with 1:1 Jokaero Orange and Ushabti Bone .
- Finish of with specular highlights of Screaming Skull , where needed.
Cream Trim
- Pick out the trim with Wraithbone .
- Edge highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh .
- Finish with a few selective highlights of :white, where the trim would catch the light.
Brown Leather
- Basecoat the leather area with Rhinox Hide .
- Glaze most of the leather with thinned Mournfang Brown . Use quite a small brush and drag towards edges in rough lines. This should create some extra texture.
- Add a chunky edge highlight of Skrag Brown to all edges.
- Highlight everything again, this time with a fine line of Skrag Brown and Ushabti Bone mixed 1:1. This is a good mix to throw in occasional fine lines as scratches too.
- With pure Ushabti Bone , selectively highlight corners and exposed edges of the leather. Put a dot of this colour where the additional scratched above meet edges too.
- Add a little pure white (like Dead White ) to your Ushabti Bone and add dot highlights to corners.
Shiny Black
- Basecoat with Black .
- Glaze chunky highlights of Dark Reaper .
- Add fine highlights of Thunderhawk Blue .
- Selectively highlight with Fenrisian Grey .
- Specular highlights of Fenrisian Grey , with a little White mixed in.
Black Hair
- Basecoat with Black .
- Pick out the strands with an overbrush of Eshin Grey .
- Selectively highlight with Dawnstone .
- Highlight even smaller with Administratum Grey .
- Mix a little White into the above paint and add a few specular highlights.
Woolen Socks
- Basecoat with Ushabti Bone .
- Wash with Skeleton Horde .
- Pick out edges with Screaming Skull .
- Finish with a few dots of Ivory along edges, to add texture.
Watch Screen
- Basecoat with Black .
- Glaze highlight everything but the top right corner with Caliban Green .
- Repeat coverring a smaller area with Warpstone Glow , focusing on the bottom left.
- Highlight selectively with Moot Green .
- Mix some Ice Yellow into the above paint and add a very small highlight.
- Pop a dot of White in the top right corner.
Blue Glass
- Basecoat with Kantor Blue .
- Mix some Russ Grey into your Kantor Blue and paint the lower left or right portion, leaving enough room for reducing its size 2 or 3 more times.
- Paint a smaller area with pure Russ Grey .
- Add some Dead White (or any other pure white) to your Russ Grey in a 1:2 ratio and paint an even smaller patch, working further into your chosen side.
- If you have enough room, paint an even smaller patch with pure Russ Grey and Dead White mixed 2:1.
- Finally, add a dot of white on the same side as the black, mirroring your brightest light blue highlight. Keep this tucked close to the edge, to prevent it looking too much like a gem.
Steel
- Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
- Wash with Nuln Oil .
- Pick out highlights with Silver RLM01 Metallic .
Gold
- Basecoat with Retributor Armour /
- Wash with Agrax Earthshade .
- Mix a little Silver RLM01 Metallic into your Retributor Armour and highlight.
- Finish with a few pure Silver RLM01 Metallic specular highlights.
