This is my take on the colour scheme of Adharon's Reavers, a Chaos Space Marine warband featured in Forgeworld's Imperial Armour Vol. 13

The main colours are blue and silver.

General Information:

My general method is to lay down all the base colours for the model, then do all the shading in the recesses before moving on to the highlights.

I don't own an airbrush so the recipe will mainly consist of Games Workshop spray cans and brush on paints.

Priming:

I find the metallic sprays from GW tend to be a little on the transparent side, so an initial undercoat of black helps.

  1. Prime the model lightly with Chaos Black
  2. Prime over that with Leadbelcher

Silver (Armour Trim):

  1. Drybrush the model with Leadbelcher to even out the colour.
  2. Shade the recesses and around any rivets with Nuln Oil
  3. Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Stormhost Silver

Blue (Armour Panels):

  1. Base with Caledor Sky
  2. Shade the recesses with Nuln Oil
  3. Highlight the edges with Teclis Blue
  4. Highlight fine points with Lothern Blue

Black (Details - Armour Ribbing, Gun Casings, Tubes)

  1. Base with Abaddon Black
  2. Highlight the edges with Eshin Grey
  3. Add a fine highlight with Dawnstone

Orange (Details - Cloth, Tabard)

  1. Base with Jokaero Orange
  2. Shade in the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Highlight the edges with Kislev Flesh

Brown (Details - Leather Pouches, Leather Straps)

  1. Base with Rhinox Hide
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Roughly highlight the edges with Skrag Brown
  4. Add a fine highlight of Ushabti Bone

Gold (Details - Skulls, Crossguards, Ammo)

  1. Base with Retributor Armour
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Highlight fine points and sharp edges with Stormhost Silver

Beige (Details - Horns):

  1. Base with Rakarth Flesh
  2. Layer Skrag Brown on the upper half
  3. Shade over with Agrax Earthshade
  4. Add lines of Rakarth Flesh on the lighter half
  5. Tip with Abaddon Black

Red (Details - Lenses):

  1. Base with Mephiston Red
  2. Shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade
  3. Layer the middle with Wild Rider Red
  4. Add fine points with Fire Dragon Bright
