Black Power Armour

  1. Basecoat with Chaos Black .
  2. Go over the armour with a thin layer or two of Abaddon Black . This helps give a consistent colour if we need to do touch-ups later.
  3. Add a chunky edge highlight of 2:1 Stegadon Scale Green and Abaddon Black . It is also a good idea to also add volumetric highlights of this colour to panels too.
  4. Add a fine edge highlight with pure Stegadon Scale Green . Try to keep it within the bounds of the previous highlight. This is a good opportunity to add in any dents and scratches you want on the armour.
  5. Edge highlighting as finely as possible, go over all of the edges with a mix of Stegadon Scale Green and Wraithbone . I like to add smaller highlights of this colour to the dents and scratches from the previous stage too.
  6. Add selective highlights of Celestra Grey to upward facing edges.
  7. Finally add specular highlights of a pure white, like White Scar , to corners and points.

White Pauldron

  1. Basecoat with Ulthuan Grey .
  2. Shade the recesses with Dawnstone and Baneblade Brown . Mix then evenly and thin them down. If you need to smooth the transition, add some to your Ulthuan Grey from the previous stage.
  3. Add highlights to the white with White Scar or any pure white.

Cream Tabbard

  1. Basecoat with 2:1 Wraithbone and Rakarth Flesh .
  2. Glaze Karak Stone into the recesses.
  3. Mix some XV-88 in to your Karak Stone and then shade deeper parts of the recesses. Mix more and more in until you are working with pure XV-88 on deep recesses.
  4. Where the recesses need the most accentuating, mix small amounts of Rhinox Hide into the XV-88 . Be very selective as this can get quite dark.
  5. Before highlighting, tidy up the basecoat of 2:1 Wraithbone and Rakarth Flesh , if necessary.
  6. Highlight raised areas with Wraithbone , applied as a glaze.
  7. With euqal parts Wraithbone and White Scar (or another pure white) add fine highlights to edges.
  8. Finally selectively highlight edges with pure white.

Brass/Bronze Aquilla

  1. Basecoat with Canoptek Alloy . Alternatively a mix of 1 part Vallejo Metal Color Gold , 1 part Copper and 2 parts White Aluminum works well.
  2. Wash with Cryptek Armourshade Gloss
  3. Selectively shade the recesses further with Wyldwood . Thin further if necessary.
  4. Add a final shade in the recesses with Rhinox Hide and a little Abaddon Black . Use this between feathers and I areas that look like they need separating more distinctly.
  5. Before highlighting, reestablish the Canoptek Alloy on raised areas.
