This dynastic scheme is inspired by the bronze-and-turquoise of the Nihilakh, combining the bronze armour of the Szarekhan with a twist on the marbled armour panels of Darren Latham's Necron army.
- Spray the whole model Chaos Black . This will make it easier to see your coverage in the next step.
- Spray the whole model Leadbelcher .
Brass Armour
- Paint the armour panels Runelord Brass , leaving the Leadbelcher base coat visible on areas like joints, fingers, spines, ribbed cables, and so on.
- Wash the armour panels with Reikland Fleshshade , avoiding the areas of Leadbelcher .
- Glaze some slightly watered down Reikland Fleshshade towards the bottom of the panels to create a slight gradient. Repeat as necessary to build up the gradient, starting lower on the panel each time.
- Drybrush Runelord Brass towards the top of the panels to restore the metallic shine and contrast with the gradient you created in the previous step.
- Optionally, edge highlight with a 1:1 mix of Runelord Brass and Stormhost Silver .
Black Gun Casings
- Base Abaddon Black .
- Edge highlight or drybrush Dawnstone .
- Optionally, dot highlight corners with Administratum Grey .
Gold Details
- Base Retributor Armour .
- Wash Reikland Fleshshade .
- Drybrush or edge highlight Retributor Armour .
- Optionally, lightly drybrush or selectively edge highlight Liberator Gold .
Working Metal
- Wash the Leadbelcher areas with Nuln Oil .
- Drybrush or edge highlight Stormhost Silver . It's ok if some of this gets on to the Brass Armour, which is why we do this step later.
Dark Marbled Armour
- Base Incubi Darkness .
- Randomly blob on Abaddon Black , thinned to wash consistency, to create a spotty pattern across all the armour panels. Using an old brush with bristles which no longer come to a point can help make this more random.
- Repeat the previous step with thinned Kabalite Green , this time targeting smaller areas in between the black blobs. It's ok if you have some overlap as this is an imprecise process, but aim to leave areas of pure black to create contrast.
- Repeat the previous step, this time focusing on areas which would catch more light.
- Create a 1:1 mix of Kabalite Green and Sybarite Green , and thin it slightly. Using a brush with a good point, paint thin squiggly lines through the Kabalite Green areas you created in the last two steps. These should mostly go in the same direction to create a veined marble effect.
- Edge highlight Sybarite Green .
- Dot highlight corners Gauss Blaster Green .
- Apply a few thin layers of Ultra Matte Varnish , letting it dry thoroughly between applications. This will reduce the shine on the surface, making the texture easier to see.
