Here is my method for producing these tuft heavy bases. These were originally intended to be jungle bases, and could still be if you introduced some fern tufts. The aim was to get good looking bases that were busy and really pumped up the quality of the quick paint job.

Basing

1. To make the the surface less regular I used a few different materials in patches, in the ones pictured I used three main materials...
2. Stirland Mud .
3. AK Terrains Dry Ground Paste.
4. Some pinches of coconut fibre over PVA glue, which is then sealed in with even more PVA.

Painting

1. Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
2. Drybrush with Mournfang Brown .
3. Lightly drybrush with Ushabti Bone .
4. Paint the rocks with Dawnstone .
5. Wash with Nuln Oil .
6. Lightly highlight with Administratum Grey .
7. Mix a little White into your Administratum Grey , then add smaller highlights.

Tufts

To finish the bases, I popped a few Gamers Grass tufts. I used the following...

1. White Flowers
2. Strong Green 6mm
3. Dende Beige 6mm
4. Jungle XL
5. Tiny Dry Green 2mm
6. Dry Green 2mm
7. Moss 2mm

I only put a few on each, so I don't cover too much surface area and mix up the colours.

To tie everything together, I jabbed some Humbrol Dark Earth (AV0017) and Vallejo Burnt Sienna (73.106) pigments in around the tufts. Finishing off with a few small UV resin puddles.
