He's silly, heretical and I love him dearly. I came across this sculpt from "Found Family Adventurecrafts" at UKGE and knew he had to be mine.
Bone Coloured Armour
- Basecoat armour with Ushabti Bone .
- Drybrush with Screaming Skull . Hitting allof the hard edges and build up some more general highlights on exposed areas.
- Recess shade with Skeleton Horde thinned with Contrast Medium 1:1. Don't be too neat, the contrast should pull towards the recess and give something like a transition. Now is also a good time to paint the under-suit/tubing by your preferred method.
- Recess shade the deepest recesses and seperations in panels with Agrax Earthshade .
- Edge highlight everything with fine lines of Pallid Wych Flesh .
- Selectively edge highlight the most exposed curved edges and corners where highlights meet with White .
Battle Damage
- Add small patches of Mournfang Brown using dots with a fine brush. Try to stick to edges and corners where damage would occur, mostly towards the front of the Space Marine.
- Underline the damage from the last step with fine lines of Pallid Wych Flesh .
Penguin Feathers
- Basecoat the main colours with Black , Averland Sunset and Corax White . I blended the transition between the last two paints with a 1:1 mix of the two, also.
- Highlight the Black portion with Skavenblight Dinge , then Stormvermin Fur and then Karak Stone . Each time you get brighter, cover a smaller area. In you feel you have pushed it too far, I would recommend a glaze of :black, to make it look more subtle and highlight again as needed.
- Glaze :Citadel/TrollSlayerOrange and then Wild Rider Red toward the top curve in the Averland Sunset markings.
- On the Corax White section, glaze a little Averland Sunset towards the centre of the small bit of exposed chest, then a smaller area with Troll Slayer Orange .
Penguin Eyes
- Basecoat with Black .
- Add a small dot of White to add a glint on the top coner closest to the beak.
- Leave a small area around the white "glint", but glaze the rest of the eye with Dark Reaper , pulling your brush towards the opposite corner.
- Highlight Thunderhawk Blue within the previous stage, focusing agin on this opposite side of the eye.
- Apply a more selective highlight of Fenrisian Grey within the previous stage/
- Finish with a very small Blue Horror highlight.
Beak
For the beak, I used the recipe for the "Weapon Casing" later in the guide. For the small pink portion, I basecoated it with Squig Orange , then mixed in some Pallid Wych Flesh for a very small highlight.
Dark Grey Undersuit
- Basecoat with Mechanicus Standard Grey .

- Highlight a smaller portion of the tubing with Administratum Grey .

Dark Red Chest Device
- Basecoat with Khorne Red .
- Pop a little thinned Agrax Earthshade into deep recesses, to darken them.
- Highlight with Wazdakka Red .
- Selectively edge highlight curved edges and corners with Squig Orange .
- Add dot highlights of Lugganath Orange , where it seems appropriate.
Black Armour Trim
- Basecoat with Abaddon Black .
- Highlight everything with Eshin Grey .
- Edge highlight most of the edges again with Dawnstone .
- Selectively edge highlight curved edges and corners with Administratum Grey .
- Add dot highlights of White Scar to points corners and more exposed edges that were highlighted in the last step.
Weapon Casing
- Basecoat with Black .
- Apply highlights of Dark Reaper .

- Finish with selective highlights of Silver RLM01 Metallic .
Gold Details
- Basecoat with Retributor Armour .
- Wash with Reikland Fleshshade .
- Mix a little Silver RLM01 Metallic into the Retributor Armour and highlight.
- Finish with some small Silver RLM01 Metallic highlights.
