Bases

Whatever follows here is before the AK diorama pastes dry.

  1. Cover the base using both AK neutral Texture for rough terrain (AK8025) and AK neutral texture for earth (AK8023). Cover different spots with those two pastes and blend them with a bit of water.
  2. Add spots of AK big grey rocks (AK8258) and AK railroad ballast (AK8072). Push them gently in the paste.
  3. Sprinkle the base with Army painter brown battleground. I tend to concentrate more around the rocky spots. Push gently in the paste. When the AK pastes are dry, dilute PVA glue with water and put some over them.

Everything should be dry now and rock solid. The base is not primed.

  1. Mix 3:1 Wasteland Brown and Xpress Medium and apply to the whole base.
  2. Mix 3:1 Rhinox Hide and Xpress Medium and apply around the rocks.
  3. Highlight with Iraqi Sand
  4. Apply GSW light brown earth pigment (1768) with a binder on top and around the rocks, and in random small spots of the base.
  5. Apply Vallejo wild tuft dry, Army Painter wasteland tuft and Gamers Grass red aloe.
  6. Dry brush gently the top of the tufts with Iraqi Sand
  7. Paint the rim Black
