This is a method for quickly painting Indian infantry, useful for Bolt Action or any 28mm WW2 game. All steps aside from skin colours are also useful for most British infantry.

  1. Prime with Black or any black airbrush or spraycan primer. I've done a zenithal spray of white with the airbrush but you can easily skip this. You could also use grey.
  2. Basecoat uniform with English Uniform .
  3. Basecoat webbing, rifle sling, and gaiters with Khaki .
  4. Basecoat turban with Dark Sand .
  5. Basecoat wooden parts on rifle and entrenching tool with Orange Brown .
  6. Basecoat skin with a 1:1 mix of Flesh Shadows and Medium Flesh Tone .
  7. Basecoat beard, boots, and any metallic areas (rifle bits, buckles) with German Grey .
  8. Basecoat base with Earth (Note: I ended up using a different basing method in the final photo).
  9. Wash with dark brown wash. I use the "marine juice" from Sonic Sledgehammer Studios' YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/kDOkiEcNcik?si=fW9sjV2SzHVBxl1E). The easy way to make this is to make one big batch by combining 1 bottle of Dark Tone , 1 bottle Reikland Fleshshade , and 1 bottle Lahmian Medium . This will make enough wash to last a very long time! However if you don't want to do this, use something like Agrax Earthshade or Strong Tone with a bit less than half Lahmian Medium mixed in.
  10. Highlight all areas with their original base coat colour, avoinding shadow areas and tidying up any pooling/tide marks from the wash.
  11. Highlight all areas except skin again by using basecoat with a bit of Dark Sand mixed in.
  12. Highlight skin by adding more Medium Flesh Tone into the original mix.
  13. Paint eyes with Light Flesh , and dot pupils with German Grey .
  14. Paint metal rifle parts and entrenching tool bits with Gunmetal Metallic or any dark metal colour.
  15. Wash metal rifle parts with Dark Tone .
  16. Paint webbing buckles with Rusty Gold or any dark gold/brass.
  17. Finish base with your preferred texture. I used Lukes Aps Base Ready Mediterranean Soil (https://geekgamingusa.com/collections/base-ready-1/products/lukes-aps-base-ready-mediterranean-soil).
  18. Varnish with Polyurethane Matt Varnish .
