How I painted these lovely Spartan Generals from Warlord Games. This was a quick passion project for me, based upon my love for the '300' graphic novel AND the movie adaptation. Maybe it will end up as a full army one day?
  Skin
- Basecoat the skin 4:1 with Cadian Fleshtone and Screaming Bell .
 - Highlight with Cadian Fleshtone .
 - Apply fine highlights of Kislev Flesh .
 - Selectively with 1:1 Kislev Flesh anf Pallid Wych Flesh .
 - Add specular highlights of Pallid Wych Flesh .

For the eyes, I made sure the colour around the sockets was dark enough with a shade of thin Doombull Brown . Then I basecoated the eyes with Ulthuan Grey and I finished them with a Black pupil.
This is best done before you begin highlighting the skin.
Hair
- Basecoat with Black .
 - Pick out hairs with an equal parts mix of Kantor Blue and Black . Do this pretty roughly with an overbrush.
 - More selectively highlight with 2:1 Thousand Sons Blue and Sybarite Green . At this stage you should be looking to create a "halo" of light on the top of the head and a secondary one around the shoulders.
 - Finish with small highlights of Fenrisian Grey , within the last stages highlights.

Red Cloth
- Basecoat with 1:1 Wazdakka Red and Screamer Pink .
 - Shade with 1:1 Khorne Red and Screamer Pink .
 - Add some Abaddon Black to the mix above, then shade
 - Edge highlight everything with 1:1 Wazdakka Red and Morghast Bone .
 - Take what remains of the above paint, and mix it 1:1 with Screaming Skull . Use this new colour to selectively highlight the cloth.
 - Finsih with very small/specular highlights of pure Screaming Skull .

Bronze Shield
- Basecoat with 2:1 Runelord Brass and Retributor Armour .
 - Shade with Reikland Fleshshade .
 - Add extra definition by shading recesses with thinned Rhinox Hide .
 - Add Silver RLM01 Metallic to the base mix and apply higlights.
 - Finish with small highlights of Silver RLM01 Metallic .

Striped Plume
For this detail, I just blocked out the main colours, picked out the hairs and then applied a selective and specular highlight. I used increasingly bright colours for the white, red and black sections as follows.
- Basecoat of Administratum Grey , then Corax White , Ulthuan Grey and White .
 - Basecoat of Khorne Red , then Evil Sunz Scarlet , Wild Rider Red and Fire Dragon Bright .
 - Basecoat of Black , the Dark Reaper , Thunderhawk Blue and Fenrisian Grey .

Dark Brown Leather
- Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
 - Glaze everything but recessed details with Mournfang Brown . Make sure you drag your brush towards the details you will be highlighting.
 - Apply highlights with Skrag Brown .
 - Highlight again, this time with a 1:1 mix of Skrag Brown and Ushabti Bone .
 - Selectively higlight with Ushabti Bone .
 - Mix some White into your Ushabti Bone , and apply speculat highlights on corners and areas where you want to emphasize wear.

Wooden Spear Shaft
- Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
 - Highlight the centre of the staff with Doombull Brown .
 - Edge highlight more selectively with Bloodreaver Flesh .
 - Add a small highlight of Gorthor Brown .

Spearhead
- Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
 - Wash with Nuln Oil .
 - Edge highlight with Ironbreaker .
 - Add fine highlights with small amounts of Vallejo Model Air Silver RLM01 Metallic .

Arid Basing
- Basecoat with Zandri Dust .
 - Wash with Agrax Earthshade .
 - Drybrush with Zandri Dust to reestablish the basecolour (if needed).
 - Repeat with a lighter drybrush of Ushabti Bone .
 - Drybrush very lightly, essentially draggin your drybrush over the details with a single pass of Screaming Skull .
 - Wash the rocks with Reikland Fleshshade .
 - Pick out prominant details and add general highlights to the rocks with Pallid Wych Flesh .
 - Finish with a few small White highlights on large rocks.
 - Finish with a nice Steel Legion Drab rim.
