How I painted my copy of the official 'Scavenger' model for the new game 1490 Doom.
Helmet
- Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
- Wash with Basilicanum Grey .
- Wash again, but with Agrax Earthshade this time.
- Re-establish the basecoat with a drybrush of :Citadel/Leadbelcher.
- Add rust into recesses, with a generous shade of thin Skrag Brown .
- Enhance this in a few places with thin Balor Brown .
- Mix some Silver RLM01 Metallic into your Leadbelcher and pick out hard edges.
- Selectively highlight with pure Silver RLM01 Metallic where the light would really hit.
Visor
- Basecoat with 1:1 Abaddon Black and Khorne Red .
- Highlight everything but the top right corner with Khorne Red . This is best done with glazes, pulling your brush towards the bottom left.
- Repeat, this time using Evil Sunz Scarlet , and covering slightly less area.
- Add a highlight of Fire Dragon Bright to the bottom left corner.
- Mix your Fire Dragon Bright with some Ice Yellow and selectively highlight the very corner.
- Add a specular highlight of Ice Yellow to the corner.
- Finish with a dot of White on the top right hand side, on the very darkest patch.
Sack
- Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
- Drybrush with Doombull Brown all over, building up texture.
- Drybrush more lightly, this time with Skrag Brown . Focus on downward strokes, catching edges.
- Shade deep recesses and downward facing surfaces with Abaddon Black .
- Pick out edges with fine lines of 1:1 Skrag Brown and Balor Brown .
- More selectively highlight the edges and corners picked out in the previous stage with Ushabti Bone .
Robe
- Basecoat with Karak Stone .
- Wash the robe with some very thin Steel Legion Drab .
- Shade recesses an under folds with Thondia Brown .
- Highlight with a mix of heavy glazes, using 1:1 Karak Stone and Flayed One Flesh .
- More selectively pick out edges with Flayed One Flesh .
- To finish, add a few dots of Wraithbone within the previous stages, to suggest fraying and texture.
Shirt
- Basecoat with Screaming Skull .
- Shade recesses carefully with a thin mix of 1:1 Screaming Skull and Tau Light Ochre .
- Enhance shading in the deepest parts with a 1:1 mix of Tau Light Ochre and Dryad Bark .
- Highlight folds with 1:1 Screaming Skull and White .
- Finish with selective highlights of White .
Trousers
- Basecoat with Stormvermin Fur .
- Shade recesses with a mix of 2 parts Stormvermin Fur , 2 parts Abaddon Black and 1 part Incubi Darkness .

Blade
- Basecoat with Leadbelcher .

- Enhance the shading with some Nuln Oil , where needed.
- Pick out raised areas with Ironbreaker and edge highlight the rest.
- With pure Silver RLM01 Metallic , edge highlight the tip and place a few specular highlights on corners.
