This is the process I used for painting these Poxwalkers for Blackstone Fortress, but it could easily be applied to other undead creatures. When it comes to playing around with washes in the final steps, don't be afraid to play around with placement. the main aim is to build up contrast in recesses and add lots of different tones to the flesh.

1. Basecoat all skin with Rakarth Flesh .
2. Paint the boils with a dirty looking yellow like Plague Brown .
3. Wash with Reikland Fleshshade
4. Now is a good time to build up the volumes on the boils by adding more and more Pallid Wych Flesh to the Plague Brown and bringing the colour up gradually.
5. Bring the colour of most of the skin back up by painting a mix og Rakarth Flesh and Flayed One Flesh mixed 1:1. I paint/think glaze this over all of the skin where the wash hasn't settled in recesses.
6. Chunky highlights on the skin with Flayed One Flesh .
7. Fine skin highlight of Flayed One Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh mixed 1:1.
8. Dot highlights with pure Pallid Wych Flesh on knuckles, at the centre of the previous highlights and on the boils.
9. Glaze cuts and wounds with Carroburg Crimson mixed 1:1 with Lahmian Medium . Now is a good time to reces shade folds with this mix too.
10. Where the cuts are particularly deep you may wash to pop some pure Carroburg Crimson in there.
11. Glaze over infected looking areas and around boils with Athonian Camoshade and Lahmian Medium mised 1:1.
12. Recess shade deep folds with Druchii Violet and Lahmian Medium mixed 1:1. This mix works well when glazed around swolen areas and particuarly troumatic looking wounds too.
