Here is how I painted the skin of my Ellorgast from Valkyrx Gaming. This recipe could also be used for zombies, vampires and other undead creatures.
I started from undercoat of German Panzer Grey and then applied a zenethal highlight of Cold Grey from a downward 45 degree angle.
Before applying a final zenithal highlight of Liquitex Titanium White ink from the top, I established some shadows by spraying Violet Game ink from underneath.
Basecoat and Washes
I then gave the whole model a coat of Rakarth Flesh with an airbrush. I made it thinner than normal, to make it somewhat transparent. If i had to guess the ratio I would say 2:1 thinner to paint.
I then mixed Lahmian Medium with Reikland Fleshshade (mixed 2:1) and gave the skin a wash all over. This was to add a little life to the skin.
With the same 2:1 ratio of medium to wash, I then recess shaded the skin with Druchii Violet .
I then took out even more Lahmian Medium and mixed it 2:1 with Drakenhof Nightshade . This was popped in the extremely deep recesses only.
For my final wash I took some Athonian Camoshade , thinned as above, and glazed over diseased areas, adding a bit of contrast in colour.
It was then time to bring the colour of the skin up, and add some contrast to all of the shades. I did this by mixing Rakarth Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh 1:1 and glazing over all raised parts of the skin. I covered almost everything that wasn't tinted by wash with this.
I then went over the skin again, this time with pure Pallid Wych Flesh . I was much more conscious of covering less area, and concentrated on areas where light would hit.
With a mix of Pallid Wych Flesh and Dead White , mixed 1:1, I added small highlights to the skin.
Finally I added dots of Dead White to select points. I limited myself to extreme points and areas I wanted to bring attention to.
