A method for creating a glossy black finish, a slight alternative to the black I use for Black Legion Rubrics.

  1. Basecoat the metal with a 1:1 mix of Leadbelcher and Silver RLM01 Metallic (or Stormhost Silver )
  2. Coat the whole area with a 2:1 mix of Black Templar and Contrast Medium .
  3. Repeat the above, but pull towards the recesses. Black Templar isn't very black to start with (it looks a bit green to me), so I begin to add Nuln Oil Gloss
  4. At this stage, evaluate the depth of the black in the recesses and also that there's the hint that this is a metal area. I give a final coat of Nuln Oil Gloss , which you can do to preference.
  5. I stippled chips with the Vallejo Silver, and lined in some edges, touched up rivets etc.
