Grey Cloth

  1. Basecoat with Stormvermin Fur .
  2. Shade with a mix of 2 parts Stormvermin Fur , 2 parts Abaddon Black and 1 part Incubi Darkness .
  3. Highlight with 1:1 Stormvermin Fur and Administratum Grey .
  4. Highlight more selectively with 1:1 Administratum Grey and White .

Black Cloth

  1. Basecoat with 1:1 Black and Naggaroth Night .
  2. Shade recesses with Black .
  3. Glaze raised areas with the base colour mixed 1:1 with Eshin Grey .
  4. Repeat, coverring a smaller area with just Eshin Grey .
  5. Apply chunky highlights with Stormvermin Fur . These are best applied with a series of scratchy lines.
  6. Mix your Stormvermin Fur 1:1 with Administratum Grey , then add in fine edge highlights.
  7. Highlight selectively with pure Administratum Grey .
  8. Finish with a few very small highlights of 1:1 Administratum Grey and White .

You could definitely simplify this method and leave out the glazing. However, I wanted an interesting cloak that I could also use on my Chorister too. With there not being much call to use this colour on the troopers, I think it is worth the effort to tie the whole force together.

Gasmask

  1. Basecoat with Administratum Grey .
  2. Shade with a 1:1 mix of Administratum Grey and Rhinox Hide .
  3. Further define deep recesses with some thin Rhinox Hide .
  4. Add selective highlights using 1:1 Administratum Grey and White .
  5. Finish with a few small White highlights.

Full transparency, these masks are pretty small. So I typically thin my initial shade colour heavily, then apply it as an all over wash. This means you will have to re-establish the Administratum Grey before proceeding with highlights though.

Leg Wrappings

  1. Basecoat with 2:1 Wraithbone and Rakarth Flesh .
  2. Wash with Agrax Earthshade .
  3. Edge highlight with Wraithbone .
  4. Selectively edge highlight with 1:1 Wraithbone and White .

Tan leather

  1. Basecoat with Steel Legion Drab .
  2. Shade with 1:1 Tallarn Sand and Rhinox Hide .
  3. Deep shade with Rhinox Hide where needed. I typically just use this colour to separate the boots from the wraps.
  4. Highlight with Baneblade Brown .
  5. Selectively highlight with Karak Stone .
  6. Basecoat with Black .

Black Armour

  1. Highlight with Dark Reaper .
  2. Mix the Dark Reaper 1:1 with Administratum Grey then pick out edges with fine highlights.
  3. Using pure Administratum Grey , selectively highlight curves and corners.
  4. Finish with a few specular highlights of 1:1 Administratum Grey and White .
  5. Pick out rivets with Silver RLM01 Metallic .

Black Rubber Tubing

  1. Basecoat with Black .
  2. Glaze Incubi Darkness over all the exposed tubing.
  3. Apply fine highlights of Incubi Darkness 1:1 with Deepkin Flesh .
  4. Add selective highlights of Deepkin Flesh on corners and points that would catch the light.
  5. Mix a little Ivory or Pallid Wych Flesh into your Deepkin Flesh and add specular highlights where needed.

Dark Brown Leather

  1. Basecoat with Rhinox Hide .
  2. Edge highlight with Doombull Brown , making them a little chunkier on corners and exposed areas.
  3. Selectively highlight with XV-88 on corners and exposed edges.
  4. Finish with specular highlights of Screaming Skull , where needed.

Dead Skin

  1. Basecoat with an equal parts mix of Cadian Fleshtone , Administratum Grey and White .
  2. Take a small portion of the above colour and mix it 1:1 with Doombull Brown . Thin this new colour to a wash consistency with Lahmian Medium and wash the skin.
  3. Add a little Naggaroth Night to the previous paint and shade deep recesses that need a little more definition.
  4. Re-establish the base colour where needed, before adding a little :white to it and selectively highlighting.
  5. Finish off with a few specular White highlights.

Steel

  1. Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
  2. Wash with a 1:1 mix of Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade .
  3. Enhance the shading with glazes of Agrax Earthshade .
  4. Highlight with Ironbreaker .
  5. Finish with selective highlights of Silver RLM01 Metallic .

Tarnished Gold

  1. Basecoat with 1:1 Retributor Armour and Sycorax Bronze .
  2. Wash with Agrax Earthshade , thinned with a little water or Lahmian Medium so it just adds a tint and brings out the deatails.
  3. Repeat with more targeted shading using Reikland Fleshshade .
  4. Overbrush and edge highlight with Sycorax Bronze .
  5. Finish with a few selective highlights of Silver RLM01 Metallic .
