Core recipe used on my Flesh Eater Courts army. Underpainting first to get battle ready with colourful minis. Then painting the flesh tones to finish everything properly.

Underpainting

  1. Ocean Blue from below. Preshading the darkest shadows as a blue, and any fabric.
  2. Deep Purple from above and from all angles. To give a bright environmental light
  3. Pastel Pink zenithalled from above. Just the focal area (face, wings, banner, weapon, etc) and any metallic surfaces.

Midtones

  1. 70:30 Deep Purple + Vampiric Flesh glazed on all raised flesh areas. More at top. Less at bottom.
  2. Vampiric Flesh glazed on smaller area, focused on top half of the model
  3. Offwhite on edges of face, ears, focal area like front arm.

Wings

  1. 50:50 Vampiric Flesh + Magenta glazed up in overlapping layers
  2. Add Offwhite to the above mix and glaze some stripes and details into the wings

Subsurface Scattering

  1. Magenta glazed in areas of thin flesh. Ears, bottom of wings, in between fingers and palms of hands

Shadows

  1. 50:50 Tenebrous Grey + Deep Purple glazed in shadows and to create separation between areas
