Getting a decent white skin tone on these Daemons was my focus here. I think they turned out alright for the effort invested.

Grey Skin

  1. Basecoat all of the flesh with Corax White .
  2. Wash all of the skin with Apothecary White , thinned with an equal amount of Contrast Medium . Try to brush it into shadows and away from exposed areas.
  3. Take some Volupus Pink or a magenta ink and thin it into a glaze with Lahmian Medium . I went by eye, but I would say I used about 60% medium for this. Now glaze the skin into the recesses, to add some warmth into the skin.
  4. Take some Apothecary White and add some purple to the mix, in a ratio of 2:1. I like to use either Druchii Violet or Vallejo Violet ink. Recess shade/glaze this to the deepest parts that need the most definition.
  5. Reestablish the Corax White in areas where the light would hit. Keep the paint thin and brush towards the most exposed point.
  6. Add fine highlights of a pure white (like Vallejo Dead White ). Place them within the previous highlights and keep them very small, pulling your brushstrokes towards a central point.
  7. For the eyes I carefully pop a small amount of Black Templar in there and wick away any excess. I like them to look very dark and blank, but you could add a small dot of Administratum Grey to the centre if you liked.

Leg Scales

  1. Go over the Corax White basecoat with some neat Shyish Purple .
  2. Blend the transition with the Volupus Pink and Druchii Violet glazes mentioned above.
  3. Pick out the scales with Warpfiend Grey .
  4. Add small specular highlights of Slaanesh Grey to each scale.

Dark Purple Claws

  1. Basecoat with Xereus Purple .
  2. Wash with Shyish Purple thinned with Contrast Medium (1:2). Allow a little to spill over onto the white skin to help with the transition.
  3. Blend the transition with a glaze or two of the Volupus Pink from earlier.
  4. Add chunky higlights of Daemonette Hide to raised areas.
  5. Add finer highligts of Warpfiend Grey to smaller areas, working toward where light would hit.
  6. Add slective highlights of Slaanesh Grey to very small areas.
  7. Finally add specular highlights of White Scar (or another pure white) to points.

Rich Purple Cloth

  1. Basecoat with Xereus Purple .
  2. Wash with Nuln Oil , thinned with an equal amount of Lahmian Medium .
  3. Paint any raised areas with Xereus Purple and Genestealer Purple mixed 1:1.
  4. Add finer highlights with Genestealer Purple .
  5. Add slective highlights with Dechala Lilac .
  6. Mix a little pure white into the Dechala Lilac and add final specular highlights.

Maroon Hair

  1. Basecoat the hair with Gal Vorbak Red .
  2. Wash with Druchii Violet , thinned with an equal amount of Lahmian Medium .
  3. Edge higlight prominent strands with Screamer Pink .
  4. Add smaller more selective highlights with Emperor's Children .
  5. Add final specular highlights of Fulgrim Pink .

Black Leather Armour

  1. Basecoat with Abaddon Black.
  2. Edge highlight everything with a thick line of Dark Reaper .
  3. Highlight everything again, this time with a thin line of Thunderhawk Blue .
  4. With Fenrisian Grey , selectively highlight upward facing edges, corners and prominent edges. Stick primarily to edges where the light would hit and always drag your brush towards the brightest point.
  5. Finally, add small highlights to the centre of the previous highlights with Blue Horror . Try to make them very small, dots if at all possible.

Black Claws

  1. Basecoat with Abaddon Black .
  2. Add a chunky highlight of Skavenblight Dinge .
  3. Add a smaller highlight of Stormvermin Fur .
  4. Add a little Pallid Wych Flesh to the previous paint add small selective higlights towards the tips.
  5. Pop small specular highlights of pure Pallid Wych Flesh on the points.

Aged Gold Jewellery

  1. Basecoat with Vallejo Metal Color Gold and Copper , mixed 3:1.
  2. Take Wyldwood and thin it with Contrast Medium in a ratio of 1:4. Now wash the metal with it all over.
  3. Add a few drops of Vallejo Chrome to whatever remains of your basecoat (roughly 50%) and edge highlight all of the metal.
  4. Now add specular highlights with pure Chrome to excentuate where the light would hit.
