The new Kill Team models have a way more involved design that the old artwork, but I have tried to stay as true as possible with mine. I think the additional colours make sense.
Blue Armour
- Basecoat with Steel Grey .
- Shade recesses with some thinned Thunderhawk Blue .
- Add fine lines of Dark Reaper in deep recesses.
- Chunky highlights and glaze highlights with Grey Blue .
- Fine highlights with Pastel Blue .
- Selective highlights with Blue Horror .
- Spot highlights of White , where needed.
The armour looks nice in blue, but since the camoflage on the originall artwork adds so much, I decided to give it a go. I just used Abaddon Black and a long thin brush for the lines. Where these lines ran over edges, I added a chunky highlight of Dark Reaper and a fine edge highlight of Thunderhawk Blue .
Black Armour
- Basecoat with Abaddon Black .
- Chunky highlights of Dark Reaper .
- Fine highlights of 1:1 Dark Reaper & Administratum Grey .
- Selective highlights of Administratum Grey .
- Specular highlights of Administratum Grey & White .
Pale Skin
- Basecoat with Pallid Wych Flesh .
- Wash with Reikland Fleshshade , pulling pigment away from areas that would catch light.
- Re-establish Pallid Wych Flesh where needed.
- Mix in some White to the Pallid Wych Flesh and add selective highlights.
- Finish with small highlights of pure White .
Drab Leather
- Basecoat with Steel Legion Drab & Rhinox Hide , mixed 2:1.
- Glaze general shading with Rhinox Hide .
- Mix Rhinox Hide & Abaddon Black 1:1, then shade small amounts in very deep recesses/folds.
- Glaze raised areas with Steel Legion Drab .
- Mix the Steel Legion Drab 1:1 with Karak Stone and apply chunky hightlights within the glazed area, towards folds.
- Kith pure Karak Stone apply fine highlights.
- Now lighten the Karak Stone by mixing in an equal amount of Wraithbone and add very selective highlights.
- Finish with very small/specular highlights of pure Wraithbone .
Cream Cloak Lining
- Basecoat with a 2:1 mix of Wraithbone & Rakarth Flesh .
- Shade with glazes of Karak Stone .
- Shade deeper areas with thin glazes of XV-88 . Be carefull with the colour, the pigment is pretty strong.
- If you have some very deep folds, consider a final smade of 1:1 XV-88 and Rhinox Hide .
- Glaze highlights of pure Wraithbone .
- Lighten the Wraithbone with White and edge highlights.
- Finish with selective highlights of pure White .
Warm Leather Pouches
- Basecoat with Mournfang Brown .
- Wash with Agrax Earthshade thinned with an equal amount of Contrast Medium .
- Glaze all raised areas with Skrag Brown .
- Mix some Skrag Brown 1:1 with Ushabti Bone and edge highlight.
- With pure Ushabti Bone selectively highlight corners and curves.
- Mix White into your Ushabti Bone and add specular highlights.
Gold Details
- Basecoat with Retributor Armour .
- Glaze shading in, using Gore-grunta Fur .
- If you need to darken the shading, mix some Rhinox Hide into it and do another (more selective) pass.
- Mix increasing amounts of Vallejo Model AIr Silver RLM01 Metallic into your base mix and add some highlights. Ideally, you will finish with specular highlights of pure Silver RLM01 Metallic .
Steel
- Basecoat with Leadbelcher .
- Wash with Nuln Oil .
- Edge highlight with Ironbreaker .
- Add fine highlights with small amounts of Vallejo Model Air Silver RLM01 Metallic .
Bone Mask and Weapon Casing
- Basecoat with Ushabti Bone .
- Recess shade with Skeleton Horde thinned 1:1 with Contrast Medium .
- Run a thin line of Agrax Earthshade into deep cracks.
- Chunky edge highlights of Screaming Skull .
- Fine edge highlights of Pallid Wych Flesh .
- Selective edge highlights of White .
Red Cloth
- Basecoat with Khorne Red
- Shade defined recesses with Khorne Red and some Abaddon Black .
- Glaze/Soft Shade: Evil Sunz Scarlet
- Fine highlights of Wild Rider Red & Fire Dragon Bright on folds, mixed 1:1.
- Selectgive highlights of Fire Dragon Bright .
- Small/specular highlights of 1:1 Fire Dragon Bright & White .
Black Cloth
- Basecoat with Abaddon Black .
- Chunky highlights of 1:1 Abaddon Black and Skavenblight Dinge , if the folds in the sculpt are distinct enough.
- Fine highlights of Skavenblight Dinge .
- Selective highlights of Stormvermin Fur .
- Specularhighlights of Karak Stone .
Black Rubber Tubing
- Basecoat with Abaddon Black .
- Paint chunky highlights of Incubi Darkness onto raised details.
- Mix the Incubi Darkness 1:1 with Deepkin Flesh and add fine highlights onto edges.
- Add selective hihglights of Deepkin Flesh on courners and points that would catch the light.
- Mix a little Ivory or Pallid Wych Flesh into your Deepkin Flesh and add specular highlights where needed.
