Flames of War WW2- Soviet Hero Shock Rifle Company.
It might be lot of work how i'm doing this, but in the end it will look nice and smooth! Model has a lot of contrast.

Prepping

Zenithal

  1. Prime with Chaos Black and then dry brush with Corax White for a Zenithal look, you also can spray it instead of drybrushing

Base

  1. Apply Brown Earth Texture Paint on the base
  2. Apply wash Agrax Earthshade
  3. Apply a dry brush with a brown of sand colour you like

Prepping the model for battle ready

Base colours with Citadel Contrast Paints (Tip: if it goes wrong use Abaddon Black and Corax White , else don't worry if you go beyond battle ready finish)

  1. Paint the clothing with Aggaros Dunes
  2. Paint the head armour with Militarum Green
  3. Paint the boots and gunloops with Black Legion
  4. Paint the hands and face with Guilliman Flesh
  5. Paint the gunholster, gun stock, the belt, leather straps attached to the body armour and other wooden parts (shovel, etc...) with Snakebite Leather
  6. Paint the bags and other straps with Skeleton Horde
  7. (if any) Paint the uniform patches with Gore-grunta Fur
  8. Depending how you like it, leave it like this.
I don't like the white shine, so i did a second layer (i think painting this way it is smoother than the citadel base paint). This way it is also battle ready with a lot of contrast and different layers of colour already.

How to paint the clothing

  1. Apply Zandri Dust on the clothing until it shows only the shadow parts, let some parts show Aggaros Dunes to have more contrast on the model. It wil shows us a camouflage themed clothing
  2. Apply Screaming Skull as a highlight
  3. Apply a edge highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh
  4. (Optional) Apply a wash with Athonian Camoshade unil you see a little glaze of green on the clothing. This way it almost looks like the real clothing

How to paint the head armour

  1. Paint the head armour with Loren Forest
  2. Use Straken Green as a highlight, (optional) add a little corax white to the mix to sharpen the edges with this colour or use it as a third highlight

How to paint uniform patches

  1. Paint the top of the patches with Evil Sunz Scarlet , so that the sides are still darker with Gore-grunta Fur
  2. Paint a little stripe with Loren Forest in the middle of the patch

How to paint the skin

First option

  1. Paint the skin with Cadian Fleshtone
  2. Highlight the skin with Kislev Flesh

Second options

  1. Paint the skin with Kislev Flesh
  2. Highlight the skin with Flayed One Flesh

How to paint the boots and other black parts

  1. Only highlight with Administratum Grey
  2. if possible edge highlight with Dawnstone
