Gravedirt
- Base coat ground with a 5:1 mix of Yellow RLM04 to Royal Purple to create a purple-brown soil color. Add a small amount of medium to thin.
- Make a thin wash of Amethyst and Red Black with some water and apply to the textured soil.
- Drybrush with the original 5:1 mix of Yellow RLM04 and Royal Purple . Follow this with a drybrush of the 5:1 mix with some Ice Yellow . Follow with a drybrush of pure Ice Yellow . Follow with a dry brush of Basic Skin Tone .
- Darken any areas that were lightened too much by the dry brush with thinned Magos Purple and bring back the highest highlights with a light dry brush of Basic Skin Tone .
Tombstones
- Use some thinned Hull Red to create shadows in overhangs, at the bottom of the model, etc. We're establishing a shaded undercoat so no need to be too neat.
- Base coat the tombstones with a layer of contrast Basilicanum Grey
- Drybrush the tombstones from above with Dawnstone . Follow this with a drybrushing of Dawnstone mixed with Stone Grey .
- Apply a light wash of Agrax Earthshade into the crevices and as a darkliner. Wipe away any excess.
- Stipple a layer of Dawnstone onto the higher areas, followed by a layer of Pale Grey Blue , and then a layer of Basic Skin Tone .
- Add touches of Pale Grey Blue on the points / edges if they need them. Try not to destroy the stippling texture.
- Stipple some Dirty Down Moss into the crevices, corners, and other areas of the tombstone without over doing it. After a minute, wet your brush and dab at some of the spots to create interesting variations in the mossy color.
Bones
- Basecoat the bones with a thinned coat of Sunny Skin Tone .
- Add a wash of Skeleton Horde to the bones.
- Highlight back up with a thinned coat of the base coat.
- Drybrush with Ivory .
- Edge highlight with Ivory and then White .
Leaves / Foliage
- Basecoat with a thinned Ice Yellow to pick out any leaves, grasses, foliage, etc on the base.
- Wash with a thinned brown wash like European Dust to bring back some detail.
- Glaze the foliage with autumn colors such as Iyanden Yellow , Snakebite Leather , and Purple Heat .
- Take a lightly thinned Orange Heat and dab it onto the edges and tips of leaves and foliage to unify the different colors.
Base Rim
- Add two thinned coats of Black to paint the base rims black.
