Preparation
- Prime with Mechanicus Standard Grey
- Zenithal highlight with Grey Seer
Skin
Painting the skin was not an exact science, I went back and forth between the main shades of green to get something that felt smooth and had a decent level of contrast
- Basecoat the top of the model with a 50:50 mix of Lahmian Medium and Warpstone Glow
- Basecoat the underside and legs of the model with a 50:50 mix of Lahmian Medium and Moot Green
- Swap back and forth between the Warpstone Glow and Moot Green mixes to build a solid coverage whilst also blending the transition between the two colours
- Make a 50:50 mix of Lahmian Medium and Sybarite Green and run it in to the recesses of the model to create shadows and also paint over and around all the scales. Don’t go too heavy on the Moot Green areas with this mix
- Use a very thin glaze of Lahmian Medium , Warpstone Glow , and water to add shade and definition to the recesses on the Moot Green parts of the model
- Use a mix of 50:50 Warpstone Glow and Moot Green to highlight the darker green areas
- Use a mix of 50:50 Moot Green and Flash Gitz Yellow to highlight the lighter green areas
- Pick out the very lightest parts with pure Flash Gitz Yellow mixed with water
- Use thinned down Incubi Darkness to shade in any extra deep recesses, like in the mouth, eyes, and ears
- Give the scales another coat of thinned down Sybarite Green
- Use a 50:50 mix of Sybarite Green and Pallid Wych Flesh to highlight the small green scales
